Project: Apple Seed is about my attempt to build a G4 OS X machine. Using
spare parts, refurbushed, or used parts I hope to build a machine powerfull
enough to run Final Cut Pro and be used as a video editing machine.

January 14, 2003.
Only took three months, but its finally working nice! I had to replace
teh CPU that I got from ebay. Wasn't a big deal, just did an RMA and whee!
all working nicely now. I hace 10.2 installed and working great. Look
here!

It's ALIVE! Well, sorta. The box keeps on kernel panicking. I'm putting
the blame on the CPUs. In the mean time, take a look at here

My PSU Arrived today! Seems like customs is taking their sweet arsed time
processing stuff. I am still waiting on my video card and CPU.

Tomorrow I am going to go shopping for a case (you think I will be able
to find a case without PSU?! :) ). To prepare I have created a template
of the logic board to take with me. You can see the images in the Photo
Section.

Once again, Ebay
doesn't fail to supply me with parts! I jsut got a dual 500mhz G4 for
just over $600CAD. It's coming together! :)

My logic board arrived today! Still need CPU and PSU.

Yaaay! I found the 22pin power supply I needed. However the seller is
only shipping it to USA. I sent him an email to see if he is willing to
ship it to Canada. Thank god for Ebay!

So far I only found two places that sells the 800Mhz Encore/ST G4 CPU
I want. Mantek out in Manitoba
is selling it for $784CAD. Discount Mac
Club, In Vancouver, Is selling it for $799CAD.

I got the logic board that I needed from ebay.
I was able to snag it for about $250CAD. Now all I need is CPU and the
power supply. The rest I can use standard PC parts (hard drive/ram). |
